Injustice 2 us all.

So Injustice 2 dropped just over a month ago now (released 16/05/17) and being the DC fangirl I am, I just had to have it. I went out and got the Ultimate Edition which got me the steel book case, which is always nice to have, an A4 metal poster thing with all the playable characters on it, which was sort of okay and some DLC codes that unlocked some skins, characters and a few other bits and bobs.

Now, this whole fighting game genre is new to me, it's not something I've gone out of my way to play before. So playing it has been quite the adjustment from the story driven open world games I normally play. It's easy enough to get the hang of and one day I'll master all the fancy combos but at this point in time I'll happily recommend it to any comic/DC/Fighting game fan.

The graphics are stunning, from the way the hair flips about when characters are being beaten, bounced and blown up, to how smoothly every character dashes forward and back and executes their move sets. The new feature where you can earn new armour sets and adjust your stats is, I think, a first for this type of game. It adds a sense of depth for after the main story is complete and makes my inner completionist go "Gotta have them all!" They way they've styled each character has stayed very true to their original source material in my opinion except for maybe Joker. He has more of a Suicide Squad movie style sense to him which I hated initially and made me refuse to play him as a character, well that and he was not appropriate to play when I had kids around due to the nature of his special. That changed when I came across this video from Kotaku Australia (check it out) Now he's one of my favourite characters to play, next to Harley of course.

Harley is back on the roster with a new look that I am living for!

The range of characters you have to choose from is rather diverse having the holy trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, then your Gotham City Sirens in Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy, and more. If you'd like a brief overview of what I think of each character in a separate post leave a comment below or hit me up across social media. I will say that I am a little baffled as to why characters like Sub-Zero are in the game. Is it a crossover between the DC Universe and Mortal Kombat? I just don't get it.

If you've played Injustice 2 have you completed the story mode? I found it so moreish that I hope in a future DLC they'll expand upon what happens after the final chapter, I doubt they will but a girl can hope, right? The story mode flows well and the voice actors really help make the story come alive (You're hearing Kevin Conroy, Tara Strong, Alan Tudyk and Robert Englund to name a few there) The story scenes flow nicely into the actual gameplay which honestly surprised me. Regardless of game I've always been accustomed to having a cut scene - fade to black - load screen- gameplay. In Injustice 2 in story mode it's an almost seamless transition half the time I was so enthralled in the cut scene and next thing you know "Oh crap! Stop hitting me and let me hit you!"

They added a  guild feature which is a nice touch to the game for those 'chievo hunters'  out there. Admittedly I got booted from my first guild ( I assume because I hadn't been online for over a week) But I've since made my own and have been attempting to hit those guild dailies on my own and am enjoying it. Who knows maybe in the next few weeks I'll venture into online play if I'm game.

I recommend this game to just about everyone. It's immersive, visually appealling, has a great story-line and has a moreish feel to it. I give it 4.5 out of 5 and if you haven't already picked it up and played a bit, go do it now, you won't regret it.
